Very decent remake. I see the scope was much smaller (smaller world, less people) and I think it made message different.
The original was about the journey TO (to the Mum's house), classic tale about hero's goal and obstacles. Your version is about journey FROM, from people that sorroud us, from location's (symbolized by the sign) that are known to us.
What hits me the most is how short my journey was in your game. I had a beagle, I thought I can leave, but I fell. In the oryginal even after falling you weren't alone. People couldn't help you but at least they kept spawning. In the remake it's you vs the world and world doesn't give a... beagle.
